Home care nurses are vital in providing high-quality health care services to their home-bound patients. The demands placed on these nurses is very high and its unfair to continue to force them to work unsafe overtime hours beyond their reasonable capabilities.

Take action!

In 2008, enactment of a NYS law provided much-needed protections, to most nurses, from mandatory overtime abuses by an employer. However, home care nurses were excluded from this law, leaving them vulnerable to unmanageable schedule changes and overtime hours.

The result? Chaos for home care nurses' professional and family obligations that include high stress, exhaustion, and compromised working conditions – a danger to both home care nurses and their patients. The governor must fix this dire situation immediately.

Take action TODAY at the NYSUT Member Action Center! Urge Governor Hochul to protect home care nurses from mandatory overtime by enacting S.4885-A (Savino)/A.181-A (Gunther)!

Home care nurses have been working hard to keep patients safe and now, New York State must do its part to protect our nurses.

In solidarity,

We know Governor Hochul cares deeply about the welfare of all nurses in New York State, so we're letting her know we care just as much!
